AURORA – State Senator Linda Holmes announced eight area libraries are set to receive a combined total of more than $622,000 for library services and programming.
“Our public libraries are more important than ever, serving as vibrant community hubs and cutting-edge technology centers," said Holmes (D-Aurora). "Grants tailored for libraries are an incredible way to empower and engage all ages, abilities and interests of the communities they serve."
Through the Illinois Secretary of State’s Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grants program, 639 public libraries statewide will receive nearly $18 million in grants. Libraries may use the funds to support resources and services for their communities, including books, e-books, online resources and internet access, personnel, public programming and capital expenditures.
Eight libraries in the district Holmes represents received over $622,000 in funding, including:
- Aurora Public Library District $266,299
- Batavia Public Library District $38,728
- Geneva Public Library District $48,367
- Messenger Public Library of North Aurora $26,935
- Oswego Public Library District $103,999
- Charles Public Library District $82,436
- Sugar Grove Public Library District $23,768
- Yorkville Public Library District $31,761
